A database is generally a table that stores some values. A PS4 database stores your PS4’s settings, caches, and other information. Corruption refers to that data being unreadable. When corruption happens in a database, the data inside it becomes very difficult to read and in the case of the PS4, the console will crash. You […]
PS4 is a home video game console from Sony released in 2013, It belongs to the 8th generation of video game consoles and competes against the likes of Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. One of the main features of the PS4 is it's revamped architecture. It moved away from the Cell
Microarchitecture in favor of AMD's custom APU built on the x86-64 architecture. The PS4 can push 1.84 teraflops of power and is considered a pretty powerful APU. The console can also work as a home entertainment system and it focused on interaction with other devices. With features like remote play and share play, you can play your games on another device (such as your phone or PS Vita) and also share your gameplay with a click of a button.
Let us look at the specifications:
- CPU: x86-64 AMD "Jaguar", 8-core
- GPU: AMD next-gen Radeon GPU clocked at 1.8 teraflops
- RAM: 8 GB unified GDDR5
- HDD: 500 GB/ 1 TB
- Optical Drive: Blu-ray
- USB 3.0 and Bluetooth 2.1 support
- Network: Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n wi-fi
- Video: HDMI
- Controller: Dual-shock 4
One of the major improvements in PS4 is the controller. The PS3 controller was a bit flawed and it did not have an ergonomic design. The PS4 controller on the other hand comes with an ergonomic body, great feel to the triggers, and a touchpad with LED lights. All of these things make the actual games even more immersive. The controller also had a port for a headphone jack so, you could enjoy latency-free audio from a wired headphone/earphone.
The PS4 has sold around 120 million copies till now and the major reason behind it is the games. Sony's Exclusive games are mind-blowing and are so well optimized for the console. You have awe-inspiring games such as Spiderman, God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, Uncharted 4, and plenty of others to keep you busy. The games run perfectly in all the versions of the PS4 and yes there are three versions!
The first fat version of the PS4 has some design issues and a Blu-ray drive that is ultra-sensitive. The slim version fixed the issue. The PS4 slim has a more streamlined design and good thermals. There was no hardware improvement though. The hardware improvement came to the PS4 Pro which can render games at 4K. The original PS4 could only push up to 1080p. The PS4 Pro used a new AMD graphics engine which had the power of 4.20 teraflops which is 2 times more than the original PS4.
The PS4 also launched with a VR system called the PlayStation VR. The VR system can be bought separately and is completely optional. It consists of a headset with a 1080p display panel, LED lights are on the headset which is tracked by the PS Camera. There is also a control box for audio processing. You can even connect the VR display to an external display. If you own the PlayStation Move controller, you can use it with the PS VR as well.
The PS4 was initially launched at a steep price of 500 USD but after some refreshments, the PS4 slim was launched at 300 USD which is of great value. Moving on, the PS4 pro will cost you around 500 USD if you are looking to buy one. You can also find many bundles in Amazon. The bundles come with different sets of games and a PlayStation Plus membership too.
